Westwood College Becomes a Candidate for HLC Accreditation

Denver, Colo. (November 15, 2007) - Westwood College today announced that it became a candidate for accreditation by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). HLC is part of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools that accredits colleges and universities. Westwood's candidacy was granted after a comprehensive review of Westwood's operations.

The HLC accreditation process typically takes five to seven years to complete, and Westwood College began actively preparing in 2004 to meet the rigorous requirements of regional accreditation. By becoming a candidate for HLC accreditation, the college has completed an important step. "This is an important milestone in our history" said Eric Goodman, Ph.D., chief academic officer for Westwood College.

In addition to a candidate status with the HLC, Westwood College is currently accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology (ACCSCT) and Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS), depending on the campus.
