Industry Experience
Mark has been a law enforcement officer since 1982. He started as a police reserve for the Vallejo Police Department in California and went on to become a full time police officer for the San Pablo Police Department in California. Mark served as a patrol officer, DUI enforcement officer, and supervisor of the police reserve program while with the San Pablo Police Department.
Mark transferred to the Fairfield Police Department in California in 1986 and spent five years working as a patrol officer and then detective. While a detective Mark worked in narcotic enforcement and crimes against persons. In 1989, Mark was seriously injured in a gun fight and eventually had to leave municipal police work.
Mark soon got back into law enforcement as a Criminal Investigator in the Stanislaus County District Attorneys Office located in Central California. While an investigator Mark worked assignments in narcotics, family support, homicide, and political corruption. Mark was promoted to Lieutenant in 2000 and that is his current assignment. He supervises a staff of criminal investigators and investigative assistants for the District Attorney.
Mark supervised the investigations staff members from the District Attorney's Office who were assigned to the prosecution of Scott Peterson. Mark also coordinated security for the victim's family. Mark spent two years assigned almost full time to this case and was often seen in the background of photographs and television coverage of Sharon Rocha, Laci's mother.
Mark currently teaches part time for three different colleges as well as the local police academy. Mark has been an instructor for almost 20 years.
