Westwood College - Atlanta Northlake Campus is located just off I-285 in the LaVista area, northeast of downtown Atlanta. With metropolitan Atlanta’s population now more than four million, the community offers all the entertainment advantages of an international city, including scores of galleries and alternative spaces that exhibit a broad variety of artwork; a ballet and an opera; numerous movie houses showing new releases, plus foreign and classic films; and a growing number of theater companies.

There are many opportunities for hip-hop , rock, jazz, avant-garde music and outdoor performances held at historic parks and amphitheaters. In addition, Atlanta has a myriad of natural areas and parks, restaurants and cafes.  Several professional sports teams also provide exciting outlets for sports fans. Atlanta is full of life with a job market that values career-ready individuals.

The Northlake Mall area where this Westwood campus is situated is practically a city in itself, with plenty of great housing opportunities and everything needed to live, shop, and learn within walking distance.  Students have easy access to professional opportunities and organizations in the area thanks to nearby transportation via   MARTA (Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority) and bus lines. The campus prides itself on small student groups that promote student development opportunities to help student’s with their education.

Driving Directions
The campus is conveniently located in the Northlake area just inside I-285 between LaVista Road and Northlake Parkway, northeast of downtown Atlanta, Georgia.

Public Transportation
Transportation options are plentiful, as the campus is conveniently located on the Marta bus line, directly on the 125 route from the Avondale Train Station. Another option is the 30 bus route from the Lindbergh Station. Both of these buses bring students directly across the street from the campus. For students who drive there is direct access to campus from the main interstate highway.

 
 

Atlanta Northlake Campus Life

The Westwood College – Atlanta Northlake campus offers a rich student life and a welcoming atmosphere for learning. We believe in rewarding students for their hard work and ingenuity with honors such as the “High GPA Awards” and membership in the Alpha Beta Kappa Honors Society. Our extensive 800-square-foot Learning Resource Center offers plenty of occupation-related reference materials and a computer commons area for class research needs.

Westwood also provides lots of fun social activities for students. From the first term we encourage students to be active in campus  activities which include:*

  • Sundae Soirée for night students
  • Student Activities Week each term
  • Community participation in parades and volunteer activities
  • Madden game tournaments (second week of each month)
  • "Know Your Program" presentations
  • Intramural basketball team
  • Student dance troupe
  • Phi Beta Lambda business fraternity (post-secondary component of Future Business Leaders of America)
  • Career fairs
  • Annual all-campus performing shows
  • Monthly birthday celebrations
  • End-of-term celebrations
  • Quarterly Promise Keeper’s luncheon to celebrate academic success
  • Spring Fling

Each fall, the campus celebrates Homecoming, complete with a king, a queen and a football game featuring our own flag football team. There are fun activities for students throughout the week culminating with a Homecoming Coronation and Ball. The campus also participates in basketball, softball, and cheerleading leagues with other private colleges and universities in Georgia.

Campus executives have been working on several initiatives to further increase the success of their students, including:

  • Faculty and student mentoring programs
  • Guest lecturers which bring political figures, educators and leaders to campus to speak to students
  • Book clubs for faculty, staff and students, with a new title each term

The Atlanta Northlake Campus is also home to 2009 Program Chair of the Year, Dr. Deva Joseph, and several past winners of Faculty of the Year and Program Chair of the Year Award. Students get the combined value of a career-oriented college and an excellent setting at Westwood College in the Atlanta Northlake area.
