ase_certificationWith a degree in automotive technology from Westwood College you can turn a hobby into a career. You'll work with your hands and learn to fix the vehicles we rely upon every day. A Westwood degree in automotive technology teaches you the essential skills for your career through hands-on classes and labs.Your courses will be modeled after the workplace, giving you the valuable experience you'll need as you enter this field.

Program features include:

  • training in the services and minor repairs that are required of an automotive professional
  • engine and emission control operation
  • instruction in the effects of powertrain components on the performance of newer cars
  • a curriculum that has been evaluated by members of the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation and is designed to meet the National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence standards

Upon successful completion of the program, you will be able to:

  • Identify the cause of a problem based on the manufacturer's published procedures
  • Explain the procedures used to perform electrical circuit diagnosis
  • Demonstrate the proper safety practices commonly used in an automotive repair shop
  • Diagnose and repair communication problems in an automotive computer network
  • Demonstrate the ability to remove and reinstall parts based on the manufacturer's published procedures
