Students in Action

Westwood’s art outreach programs promote creative opportunities and make art accessible to our communities. We work with young people, public groups and community organizations to share not only our students' expertise, but also their passion for art.

Beautifying Chicago with Pop Up Art Exhibits

Pop-up Art Exhibit

Pop-Up Art Loop transforms empty storefronts in the Chicago Loop into public art galleries, exhibits and studios. An initiative of the Chicago Loop Alliance, Pop-Up Art Loop creates partnerships between artists and property owners by giving artists temporary access to available storefront space in the Loop. Artists are able to exhibit their work in prime Loop locations and property owners gain temporary tenants who bring energy and life to otherwise unused spaces. This program creates an evolving series of cultural experiences that bring Chicago's artistic community to the heart of the city and welcome additional life, energy and dimension into downtown. In July 2011, Westwood students in the Chicago Loop Campus transformed an empty space into a modern visual communications and animation art show.

Anaheim Campus Students Represent in Western Regional Moot Court

Anaheim Campus Moot Court

Anaheim Campus students, Priscilla Sarabia, Briana Juarez, Paul Madison, and Kristy Peters represented Westwood in the "Western Regional Moot Court Competition" at California State University Long Beach. The Westwood team competed as one of 36 teams from over 10 other colleges, including California State University Fresno, Brigham Young University, Carroll College, Drake University, Mt. St. Mary's College, in an attempt to win a bid to the national competition.

Our students competed in teams of two as appellate attorneys dealing with 1st and 4th Amendment Constitutional issues. Each team competed in three vigorous rounds, ultimately scoring as high as 95 out of 100. Scores were based on factors such as courtroom demeanor, response to judge's questions and knowledge of the case.

We are very proud of each participant and give special thanks to faculty members James Gandy and Cindy Campbell for coaching the team. We are also excited to announce that the Anaheim Campus will host the 1st Annual Westwood Anaheim Moot Court Competition on April 28, 2012.
